CURRICULUM

At Emrys ap Iwan our learners are given the opportunity to study aspects of local, Welsh, British and world history from the medieval period to the end of the 20th century.

Key Stage 3

The department delivers the National Curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9. Learners study events chronologically studying events from the Middle Ages in Year 7, the 16th and 17th centuries in Year 8, then finally aspects of Industrial Britain and 20th century world in Year 9.

 

GCSE

​​

At GCSE level learners are given the opportunity to study in depth aspects of 20th century history. Topics studied include: Germany 1919-1991; Russia in transition 1905-1924; USA a nation of contrasts 1910-1929; and either London during the time of Jack the Ripper or the 1960s.

A Level

​​

In the Sixth Form learners are given the opportunity to develop in depth their understanding of life in Nazi Germany and life in Wales and England between 1880 and 1980.
