ABOUT

History is a popular and successful subject at Emrys ap Iwan. Many learners opt to study History at both GCSE and A Level, and several have gone on to study the subject at university.

We at Emrys believe that History has the power to inspire our learners to take interest in all aspects of the past, as well as allow them to develop a wide range of useful skills. Our curriculum covers a very broad range of history – from the Middle Ages to the present day, and from local studies of Flintshire to key periods of German, American and Russian history.

We aim to bring the past to life by making our lessons as informative, challenging and enjoyable as possible. We use methods such as role play, hot-seating, and group work as well as ICT to encourage learners to think critically for themselves and develop independent learning.
